Many agents don't have a design team to create polished marketing materials. Here are the most effective ways to make your text stand out on any background photo — no design experience needed.
What do you need?
- Computer or phone
- A Canva account (free) — recommended
- Read (step by step)
Option 1 — Use a dark overlay in Canva (Recommended)
Step 1 — Open Canva and choose your photo as the background
Step 2 — Add a rectangle shape on top of your photo and set the fill color to black
Step 3 — Reduce the rectangle's transparency to around 40-50% — this darkens the photo underneath without fully hiding it
Step 4 — Add your text on top of the dark overlay in white or a light color — it will now be clearly readable against any background
Step 5 — Export your image and upload it to Kaydoh as your page background or content tile thumbnail

Option 2 — Choose a naturally dark photo
When selecting your background image, choose photos that are already dark in tone — evening shots, shaded interiors, or photos with darker sky areas. Place your text over the darker portions of the image.

Option 3 — Use the Clearwater Layout in Kaydoh
Kaydoh's Clearwater Layout gives you full control over your background image positioning — ideal when you want to align your photo so the dark areas fall behind your text. See: How to Use the Clearwater Layout for Full Control of Your Background Image

💡 Pro Tip: White text on a dark background is the most readable combination for mobile screens. Avoid light text on light photos — even with a slight overlay, contrast is key.
