How to Use the Clearwater Layout for Full Control of Your Background Image

Sometimes users want to place text, graphics, or promotional messaging directly inside their background image.

However, most Kaydoh layouts automatically add headlines, subheadings, and call-to-action buttons on top of the background image. This can cause text to overlap or compete with the design inside the image.

If you want a clean background design with full control over the image, the best option is to use the Clearwater layout.

The Clearwater layout removes headline and CTA overlays, allowing your background image to display exactly as designed.

💡 Pro Tip: Design your background image in Canva first

For best results, create your full background design — including text, branding, and promotional messaging — inside Canva before uploading it to Kaydoh. This gives you complete control over fonts, colors, and layout before it becomes your page background.

Example: Clearwater Layout in Action

Below is an example of a Kaydoh page using the Clearwater layout, where the background image contains the full design including text, branding, and promotional messaging.

Because Clearwater does not place headlines, buttons, or text overlays on top of the page, the background image displays exactly as designed.

What do you need?

Computer
Access to your Kaydoh dashboard
A background image with your design, text, and branding already built in (recommended: create in Canva first)

Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1
Log in to your Kaydoh dashboard. Locate the page you want to update and click Edit.

Step 2
Switch to Advanced Mode.

Step 3
From the left sidebar, click Select Layout.
Under Website Type, choose Portfolio.
From the available layouts, select Clearwater.

Step 4
Continue editing the page using Advanced Mode.

Once the layout is changed to any layout other than the default Easy Mode layouts, the page will remain in Advanced Mode, and switching back to Easy Mode will no longer be available.

Step 5
After completing any other necessary edits, click Save and Complete, then Preview the page to review the final layout. Your page will now display the Clearwater layout with a clean background image and no headline or CTA overlays.

Important Note
Most Kaydoh layouts automatically add headlines, subheadings, and call-to-action buttons on top of the background image. If your image already contains text, it may conflict with those elements.

The Clearwater layout avoids this issue by providing a clean canvas where the background image can display exactly as designed.
